Our Heritage Wheat was crowned “World’s Best Wheat Whisky” in March 2025 at the World Whiskies Awards. The whisky was distilled from three ancient wheat varieties—Øland, emmer and spelt—alongside rye and barley. Now we’re recreating the whisky, and you can own a share in one of the casks.

As a co-owner of a Thy Whisky cask, you’ll take part in the cask filling, follow the whisky’s journey at our Cask Owner’s Days, and after 4 years, enjoy the result in your own bottles of Thy Whisky.

Our Heritage Wheat was awarded “World’s Best Wheat Whisky” in March 2025 at the World Whiskies Awards. Now, we’re recreating it in limited quantities—and you can be part of one of the casks.

The whisky is distilled from three heritage wheat varieties—Øland, emmer and spelt—alongside rye and barley, and will mature for approximately 4½ to 5 years in new 120-litre American white oak casks with a heavy char.

The whisky has already been pre-aged in other casks since February, so we expect it to be ready for bottling after another 4 years, in autumn or winter 2029. We plan to bottle it at around 50–52% ABV, where we believe the balance between sweetness, spice and alcohol is at its best. From one share, you can expect a minimum of 9 bottles of whisky after 4 years.

Worlds Best!

This cask share is created using the same recipe as our Heritage Wheat whisky, which was awarded the title of World’s Best Wheat Whisky at the World Whiskies Awards in London this spring.

Ølandshvede, spelt and emmer

The heritage wheat varieties contribute a pleasant fruity sweetness, a hint of nuttiness, lightly earthy, dusty grain and floral aromas—combined with subtle pepper and spice from the rye.
After 4.5 years, the whisky takes on a deep reddish-brown colour and develops flavours of sweet caramel, vanilla and ripe fruits, with notes of chocolate and a warm touch of pepper and oak spice.
