PX & Bourbon

By now, it has become something of a tradition for us to release a new Limited Edition of our single malt every October, with extra warmth and sweetness from sherry casks to see us through the colder months ahead. This year is no exception.

Our take on a whisky for autumn and Christmas is called PX & Bourbon.

The whisky builds on the same foundation as our house whisky, Thy Single Malt, where grain and malt take centre stage. But for PX & Bourbon, the whisky has been aged for 5–6 years in nine exceptionally sweet PX sherry casks. Some of the whisky has been finished in bourbon casks to add structure and complexity from oak and vanilla, beautifully balancing and complementing the rich sherry sweetness.

The smoke is subtle. Our beechwood smoke adds depth and body to the whisky, but remains just a gentle hint in the background, blending seamlessly with the PX sherry sweetness. We particularly like this way of balancing smoke, which is very much in keeping with how we traditionally use beechwood smoke in Denmark.

Expect a warming winter dram with a rich, smooth mouthfeel and notes of dried fruits, cocoa, vanilla, warming spices, honeyed oak sweetness and a gentle touch of smoke.
