Double Cask: 388+664

This cask-strength double cask bottling is a deep, warming and sweet expression of our beechwood-smoked single malt. The whisky has aged for 5–6 years in two PX sherry casks that we are particularly fond of.

We have brought together whisky from a 500-litre butt and a 250-litre hogshead, both of which previously held sweet Pedro Ximénez sherry. The casks bring a rich, dark fruit sweetness, a soft and full mouthfeel and warm spices. After years of aging, these flavours have come together with the grain, fruit and warm beechwood smoke of the spirit, giving notes of dried fruit, deep sweetness and a lingering layer of smouldering bonfire smoke.

The combination of PX sherry and beechwood smoke has become a style we keep returning to. The sweet, intense fruit from the casks can carry a good amount of smoke, while the beechwood smoke in turn brings depth and an edge to the sherry sweetness. It is a combination we are particularly fond of ourselves.

Most recently, we explored this side of Thy Whisky with Double Cask 1035+1036. Here too, intense sherry fruit and beechwood smoke stood side by side, and the bottling went on to receive 98/100 points at the IWSC, earning a Gold Outstanding score and a place among the top-scoring whiskies in the Worldwide Whisky category.

This new bottling builds on the same idea, but with more time in cask to bring the whisky, smoke and oak together.

Only 330 bottles will be bottled. They will be released at our Cask Owners’ Day.
